TRANSFORMATION AT RISK........

The transformation of Dadeldhura District Hospital into Sub-regional hospital just a few weeks back has brought up many opportunities but also many more challenges along with that to deal with. The transformation is a bit different than as has come on the price of closing of Team Hospital which was run by a NGO named HDCS. Actually to say being at dadeldhura and dealing in a direct manner with the transformation, I think it was to happen if not now in the near future, following just prior the transformation the way HDCS dealt was just shocking to me---an unprofessional way…the shutting down of all the services including Caesarean Section at that crucial period of time……so it is a good thing that the responsibility has now of the government…..

The significant opportunity of being a Sub regional Hospital at Dadeldhura lies in a simple fact that it is the center of 7 hilly districts of Far-Western region……and if run properly can be a center and an example to whole of the nation….a referral center with all the facilities and it can be an important step in the development of Dadeldhura and also of Far-Western Development Region…can lead in long term to the development and economic uplifting…… But the situation doesn’t look nice at this context from the central level at the concept of Sub-Regional Hospital over here……

The opportunity lies only in a midst of many and many more challenges. At the current situation of the country when the country isn’t able to fulfill the requirement and facility at the Zonal Hospitals in Nepal and also at some places at level of District Hospitals too, this is really a challenging task in front of all….. till today’s date the government hasn’t been able to recruit even additional Medical Officers after declaring Sub-regional by the cabinet of ministers(its been already a month now) , then how can the people be assured that the availability of Consultants at different fields will be there in near future……..

So being here in Dadeldhura and seeing the transformation, I see only a flame which is to die away but sill I believe that if the government wants and takes full interest in this transformation aspect and the importance that can impact at local and regional and central level of health, there can be a great achievement in health………

Doctor-Patient Relationship In Nepal

Well looking at the present situation, I doubt if people now have the same respect for doctors as it used to be before. I can’t tell exactly the situation in other countries and rural areas of Nepal; but for sure in the urban areas ---- the patient-doctor relationship is definitely worsening day by day. The present situation in Nepal where anyone can do anything breaking the rules, regulations etc. is a key contributing factor to this situation.
